Join us for a free, all levels class on the American Accent.  We'll explore accent error patterns on frequently used words and how to practice to correct pronunciation errors.  You'll learn which patterns affect how well you are understood when speaking English, and how to get that typical American sound.

Attention, the location can be a bit tricky to find.  The easiest way is to enter the south tower parking at 4th and 105th St.  Take the parking elevator to the 2nd floor, and follow the signs for "office elevators."  You'll walk through the market/restaurant area on your way.

At the office elevators, select floor 5.  WeWork has the whole floor.  Check in at the front desk and they will direct you to the class in the main area.  Free coffee, tea, fruit water and esspresso drinks are available before class, so come early and enjoy a drink compliments of WeWork.

Specific topics will include:  Common accent error patterns, American English vowels, final consonant sounds, initial consonant sounds, how pronunciation affects grammar, intonation, linking and connected speech, reductions, consonant clusters, and how the American English dialect differs from other dialects of English.

Students will gain an understanding of the elements of their personal accent which affect being understood.  They will learn the common error patterns of pronunciation and intonation they are making, how to correct them, and how to practice to integrate new speech patterns into their personal and professional communication.  Students will learn to evaluate their own speech and that of others. They will learn additional cultural communication competencies and professional soft skills such as small talk, public speaking and direct and indirect language as they integrate pronunciation, intonation and fluency in their speaking practice.

Beginning September 5th, we will have a 6-week all-levels class, Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in Bellevue.  Class will be limited to 25 participants.   Register now.
