Prior to starting the course, I had lived in the United States for a number of years . . . I was a well-established professional, and people didn't have any problem understanding me . . . But even before I completed my first sentence, people stopped me and asked me where I was from. That was particularly annoying. After taking the course for several months of the training, now I have days and days and days at work that I interview a number of patients and family members and friends, and the whole day passes and no one cares what country I'm from, nobody points out the accent. I truly believe that in the professional context my accent is significantly better and my pronunciation is much much closer to the native one.
