This video will help you make a clear distinction between number like fourteen and forty. Numbers in the teens have the stress on the second syllable, meaning the second syllable will have a longer vowel than the first syllable. Numbers like forty, fifty etc. have the stress on the first syllable, meaning that the first syllable will have the long vowel.
